If you’ve seen the movie the “War Room” you may be wondering how to craft a prayer strategy. Some have created a war room in their closet, where they tape scriptures and scriptural prayer strategies to pray, on the walls. My daughter Kate, who is standing for healing in cancer, wrote scripture promises on beautiful paper designs and hung them on the walls surrounding her bed. This is the first thing she sees when she wakes up.
But perhaps you are like me and don’t have a closet that you can spare. So then what do you do?
My “War Room” is a special Prayer Journal – one that I love to hold. Inside the beautiful soft leather cover, I craft spiritual prayer strategies as the Holy Spirit leads me! This helps me to focus as I pray!
It doesn’t have to be about the physical place you are praying in. Although a quiet place helps, and if you do have a spare room or closet, by all means utilize it and create a “War Room” there.
How to Begin:
Worship and praise the Lord.
Surrender your heart to God as Lord.
Write out the persons name with the concern at the top of your page.
Date it.
Ask God for His heart on the situation.
Record phrases or words and scriptures that He brings to your heart. Once you know Gods heart, you can join Him in prayer!
From the phrases or words He brings to your heart, pull together powerful scripture promises and create strategic prayers. God’s Strategies are more powerful that the enemies strategies against you.
You can be sure that the enemy of your soul has created strategies against you. But do not fear. God goes before you. Seek Him and get His strategy.
God says, in Is. 19:3 … I will bring their plans to nothing …
There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. The horse is make ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord. Pr. 21:30,31
Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan but it will not stand, for God is with us. Is. 8:10
I have my copy of “Mud On My Knees Prayer Guide” on hand, and pull from the categorized scripture prayers listed in the back – to find scriptures that fit. The scriptures are already personalized, which makes it easy to copy into my journal. I create my prayer strategies from there, as God leads me.
My strategic warfare prayers usually take place in the morning, in our “Great Room” where I march around the room and speak out God’s Promises, calling forth what God has already done in the heavenly realm, into the earthly realm… Or where I sit in the recliner and speak out prayer strategies written in my journal.
My grandchildren’s pictures hang on the wall, reminding me to pray for each one. As I look at each adorable face, I pray as the Holy Spirit leads me.
I keep another journal with prayer requests from friends, ministries and prodigals that I am praying for.
Your spiritual war room might be:
- A closet,
- A room,
- A wall,
- Index cards, or
- A journal.
It is unique to your relationship with God – a place to pray and intercede for who He puts on your heart.
Most importantly PRAY – Create a War Room that works for you and just begin praying.
